CrossFit is an advanced strength and conditioning program that utilizes a wide variety of activities and challenges.
The workouts are usually high in intensity, short in duration and constantly changing, and can be performed in a group or individual setting.
Some of the types of exercises that may be involved in a CrossFit training session include:
- weight lifting and body weight exercises
- sprints
- gymnastics
- jumping
- skipping
Different combinations of exercises are used for each workout, which are then repeated as many times as you can within a particular time frame. This allows you to gauge your performance and gives you a score to beat in future attempts.
There are certified trainers and CrossFit affiliated gyms in many locations, and it is growing in popularity. But ultimately, CrossFit is a type of structured circuit training which combines a few different exercises that anyone can perform themselves, taking advantage of the equipment and surroundings available at the time.
